Rodelio S. Roque was born on October 15, 1950 in Manila, Philippines. He graduated from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accountancy in 1971. He passed the CPA board examination in the same year with a rating of 88.5%. He then pursued his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at UP Diliman and graduated in 1974. He also obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Business Administration from UP Diliman in 1986.
Rodelio S. Roque started his career as an auditor at SGV & Co., one of the largest accounting firms in the Philippines and a member firm of Ernst & Young Global Limited. He then joined the faculty of UP Diliman as a professor of accounting and management in 1974. He became the dean of the College of Business Administration (now Virata School of Business) from 1994 to 1997. He also served as the director of the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI) from 1997 to 2000. He retired from UP Diliman in 2015 after 41 years of service.
